I wanted to share what we’ve been doing so that you too, can begin to lay the foundation of God’s word in your child’s heart and mind. I finally have the chance to sit down and write down some of the things we do during our daily devotion. Many moms who know my daughters, are impressed with how much they know about the Bible and ask me what we’re doing to teach them so that they actually remember. It brings me great joy when they ask if we can read a Bible story together. They have their favorite Bible stories and characters and most important, they have a desire to learn more about God every day. They can recite Bible verses and re-tell Bible stories in their account, and be pretty accurate. When working through a lesson, have your strong reader read the scripture and then have your other children retell the story. Have your children gather together the necessary items, or go to the store together to buy what you need. My husband and I are amazed with how much the girls retain from every Bible lesson. Many of the lessons are 30-45 minutes in length, but can easily be made shorter for younger children. Now, Alyssa is 3 and Kayla is 2 and we continue to teach them every day. We started using Bible Time with her right away. ![]() God’s Word, of course, is the only source of wisdom concerning how we live. My youngest, Kayla, was born 13 months after Alyssa. In Ephesians 5:15-16, just prior to giving instructions to families, the Apostle Paul writes (my translation), Therefore look carefully how you walk, not as foolish people, but as wise, buying back every opportunity, because the days are evil.
